U.S. Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Hillsborough) has written an autobiography. She calls it “Undaunted," and it’s packed with personal revelations.
For Speier, the personal has always been political, starting when she nearly lost her life on Leo Ryan’s ill-fated mission to Jonestown, Guyana 40 years ago. That incident, and the bullets still lodged in her body, have informed her position on gun control.
She spoke with KRCB News Director Steve Mencher and their discussion ranged from the government shutdown to evolving ideas of feminism.
In part two of the interview, Speier and Mencher discuss how Speier's personal experiences have informed her politics.
