Across the Caucasus, Azerbaijani men labor to build a new railroad promising to bring glory to a new generation, while across the closed borders in Armenia, a lonely stationmaster sits idle in an abandoned railroad depot, where for the last twenty years he awaits the return of the trains. The workers reflect upon their desires and regrets, creating a pervasive contemplation of suspended time. The past, present and future are fluid- workers floating through the expanse striving to fill their days and dreams, as much as their pockets.
Winner of the Regard Neuf competition for Debut Films at Visions du Reel and the Cinematic Vision award at Camden IFF, the film moves between movement and pause, between the toil and the silence of the off-work hours, where fragments of a glorious past and of an uncertain future seep through, with Europe as the final destination.
