Sonoma County has launched a new campaign aimed at improving access to public services. The initiative, called Open Doors, is led by the county’s Human Services Department. It involves collaboration with local nonprofits and community organizations.

On the Open Doors website, Sonoma County residents can connect with more than 600 service providers in categories including food assistance, mental health and substance use.

Lynn Peralta is assistant director of the county’s Human Services Department. She said restrictive policies like the H.R. 1 bill—better known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act—are hitting immigrant and vulnerable communities hard in Sonoma County.

“In the face of restrictive policies, open doors is our response to that," Peralta said. "We’re building a more connected, responsive safety net that essentially reflects our community’s values.”

The site is mobile-friendly, multilingual and designed to be intuitive for all users, said Peralta. And, unlike many government platforms, it doesn’t retain personal data.

“Our hope is that people can access the services without fear and ensure the privacy and confidentiality of their information,” she said.

Open Doors messaging is expected to appear this month on buses, billboards and other local media. Residents can also call 211 for live assistance.
